The show was great. There were a few misses, but overall a solid show. I know people are upset at the finale, but given when it was filmed, and the constraints that they had to deal with, I can let go of any lingering disappointment. What was supposed to be the finale sounded amazing, and I think everyone would have been able to get behind it... probably would have been plenty of tears to go with.
Personally, my favorite episodes were always the "meta" ones. French Connection, the Supernatural-Con, Scooby... all the wink-wink, nudge-nudge.
I can't be positive, obviously, but I strongly suspect that there would have been much less backlash over a woman being the main protagonist had the woman in question been Leia instead of Rey. We all knew Leia was the poster child for "bad-behind" (per language guidelines). The first time we see her, she has a blaster, followed by a verbal sparring match with Darth Vader himself. She doesn't get less bad-behind throughout the movies, she gets more so. And she arguably has a bigger fan-base than the two men the movies focused on.
