the father took them out, why does everyone get this part wrong? she caught it and put it back then the kid goes back for it yet again brings it to the dad he takes them goes no and puts them down as they walk away. the daughter hands him the ship and walks away and the kid grabs the batteries and outs then in on the way out the store.
