This hugely popular teen series created by Jenny Han follows the titular Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart), who, despite being in high school, believes she has love all figured out. However, after moving across the world to reunite with her long-distance boyfriend, the quirks and faults of love soon rear their heads. A show that quickly became the favorite of many young adults, XO, Kitty, a spin-off of the To All the Boys film series, ticks all the boxes for teen comedy and drama. Based on show creator Alice Oseman’s eponymous webcomic and graphic novel, Heartstopper is a young adult romance series that follows Charlie, a young boy who falls in love with his new classmate, Nick. The series stars Joe Locke as Charlie and Kit Connor as Nick, with William Gao, Yasmin Finney, Corinna Brown, and more in supporting roles. Heartstopper premiered in 2022 to critical and audience acclaim, winning five Children's and Family Emmy Awards for its debut season and numerous other awards since. The series is a near-perfect adaptation, capturing the grounded yet stylistic feel of its source material to tell a moving story about discovering one’s identity. Featuring a diverse cast representative of the wide spectrum of LGBTQ+ identities, the show has received praise for its work behind the scenes as well as for what’s actually on screen. The series is both heartwarming and intense, with complex emotional arcs and plenty of wistful moments. Heartstopper has had three seasons so far, the latest released in October 2024.
