2025 kicks off with a blue light bang on Prime Video, with On Call the newest police procedural in town. Created by Tim Walsh and Elliot Wolf and starring Troian Bellisario, the series follows a pair of officers who roam the streets of Long Beach, California, ready to answer the most pressing of medical emergencies. A police procedural by all standards, On Call ticks all the boxes for those looking for quick and easy action. Fast-paced and furious, On Call has the potential to be the next big procedural, so make sure to jump on the bandwagon now. - Jake Hodges

‘The Rig’ (2023 - Present)

Rotten Tomatoes: 67% | IMDb: 5.8/10

Created by David Macpherson and directed by John Strickland, The Rig is a supernatural thriller series set on a Scottish oil rig in the North Sea. When the rig is blanketed by an unusual fog, it’s the beginning of a series of disturbing events, as a deadly ancient parasite is unleashed upon the unsuspecting crew. The series stars Iain Glen, Emily Hampshire, Martin Compston, Mark Bonnar, Rochenda Sandall, Owen Teale, and more.

The first Amazon Original to be filmed entirely in Scotland, The Rig premiered on the service in January 2023 and was renewed for a second season shortly after. The series has received largely favorable reviews from critics, though it has been criticized for its rather cliched plot. But as uneven as the storytelling might be, The Rig still manages to captivate audiences thanks to its compelling performances and moody atmosphere. The show’s second season was released in January 2025.

Hazbin Hotel (2019 - Present)

Blending crude language, eye-catching aesthetics, and Broadway-level musical talent, Hazbin Hotel is a captivating adult animated series from internet sensation Vivienne "VivziePop" Medrano. A dark musical comedy, Hazbin Hotel centers on a place in hell that hopes rehabilitate occupants with the intention of relocating them to heaven. Built on an amusing premise, the series dazzles with star power, featuring the voices of Stephanie Beatriz (Encanto), Alex Brightman, and Keith David.

On its face, Hazbin Hotel is incomparable and should not work, yet the humor is outrageously ridiculous, the visuals are gory and lewd, and the toe-tapping numbers are unforgettable. Hazbin Hotel makes shows like Archer and Rick and Morty feel like child's play. - Yael Tygiel

‘Rogue Heroes’ (2022 - 2025)

With the war seemingly stuck in violent hell, it is three lieutenants look to change everything by designing a team of special agents ready to operate behind enemy lines. Helmed by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, Rogue Heroes is packed full of war-based action and depth of drama. Ever imagined what would happen if all your favorite video games were brought together in one anthology series? Well, wonder no longer, with Prime Video’s Secret Level answering just that. The series features individual stories from classics such as Pac-Man, Exodus, and Dungeons & Dragons, with an all-star voice cast helping bring these tales to life. Although varying in story quality, each of Secret Level’s 15 episodes features some of the most eye-catching animation of the year. ‘The Sticky’ (2024)

A brilliant premise and inspired casting combine to make The Sticky one of Prime’s most exciting new projects. ‘Nip/Tuck’ (2003 - 2010)

This beloved medical drama follows two plastic surgeons, Dr. Sean McNamara and Dr. Christian Troy, played by Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon, respectively. With one a family man and the other a bachelor, the pair endure ultimately opposing hardship while trying to work out how to keep their business afloat. Perfectly walking the line between touching drama and devilish black comedy, Nip/Tuck more than earned its die-hard fanbase, with 14 years off-screen doing nothing to dispel a wonderful legacy. Walsh and McMahon are wonderful components of a brilliantly crafted ensemble, with Nip/Tuck the sort of series everyone must watch at least once. - Jake Hodges

‘Cruel Intentions’ (2024 - Present)

Based on the 1999 Roger Kumble movie of the same name, Cruel Intentions follows step-siblings Caroline (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Lucien (Zac Burgess) who, intent on securing their powerful reputation among rich students at their college, manipulate their way to seducing the daughter of the Vice President of the United States. Not reaching the heady heights of its beloved predecessor, Cruel Intentions is still an intriguing tale that features plenty of twists and turns. In a landscape flooded by reboots and remakes, Cruel Intentions is one of Prime’s offerings you’ll want to catch. - Jake Hodges

Based on James Patterson’s beloved Alex Cross novel series, Cross follows Aldis Hodge as the unconventional detective and forensic psychologist who uses his uncanny ability to dive into the mind of a killer to help solve critical cases. Beyond the gripping mysteries and indulgent ensemble, Cross is best-praised thanks to a powerful lead performance from Hodge. 'Deadloch' (2023 - Present)

This biting noir comedy from the minds of Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan begins, like the BBC hit Broadchurch, when a body turns up on a beach in the unsuspecting coastal town of Deadloch. Assigned to the case are senior sergeant Dulcie Collins (Kate Box), a woman who was once a detective but demoted herself on the wishes of her wife, and the reckless detective Eddie Redcliffe (Madeleine Sami). The two struggle to get on, with Eddie’s impressive but all-too-obnoxious style certainly grating on the much more steadfast approach of Dulcie, but their differences must soon be put aside when they realize there are many more disturbing and intimidating factors at play.

Quirky, dark, and full of devilishly funny comedic beats, Deadloch is one of many Australian comedy/dramas to have made a worldwide splash in recent years — and perhaps it is the best. Both Kate Box and Madeleine Sami are perfect at toeing the line between gritty emotion and a cheeky wink, with both hilarious comedy and intense drama never far away in any given scene. With its gorgeous cinematography and gripping crime-thriller plot, Deadloch is perfect binge-watching material. - Jake Hodges

‘Like a Dragon: Yakuza’ (2024 - Present)

This brand-new Prime gangster series follows the life of a Yakuza warrior and documents two periods of his eye-catching journey, from childhood to imprisonment and the eventual road to redemption. Packed full of heart-stopping action set pieces and plenty of mystery, Like a Dragon: Yakuza is a worthy live-action adaptation of Sega's Like a Dragon video game series. Featuring a host of memorable characters and a superb central story that hooks you from the first minute, Like a Dragon: Yakuza is a fantastic new addition to Prime Video’s brilliant selection. - Jake Hodges

‘The Devil’s Hour’ (2022 - Present)

Created by Tom Moran and executive produced by Steven Moffat, The Devil's Hour is a British drama thriller series starring Jessica Raine, Peter Capaldi, and Nikesh Patel. The show follows social worker Lucy Chambers (Jessica Raine), who is struggling with family and relationship problems. To make things worse, every night, Lucy wakes up at exactly 3:33 AM after terrifying nightmares. When her name becomes connected to a series of murders, Lucy finds herself pulled into the hunt for a serial killer, which may just reveal answers about what’s really going wrong in her life.

The first six-episode season of The Devil’s Hour premiered in October 2022 to positive reviews from critics, who praised Raine and Capaldi’s performances. A second season, consisting of five episodes, was released on October 18, 2024. An unsettling, atmospheric thriller, the show presents a thoroughly enthralling story brought to life by a highly talented cast. And if you like the show’s first two seasons, Season 3 has already been filmed, though it doesn’t have an official release date yet.

‘Numb3rs’ (2005 - 2010)

Rotten Tomatoes: 93% | IMDb: 6.9/10

This police procedural with a twist follows Special Agent Don Eppes (Rob Morrow) of the Los Angeles office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, who uses the help of his genius brother to solve crimes through the art of mathematics. Whether you’re a fan of the CBS crime procedural or not, Numb3rs is well worth your time. With an innovative premise, the show delivers — thanks in no small part to a dedicated writing team that implements the series’ number-based USP at every possible opportunity. Underappreciated in its day despite a Primetime Emmy nomination, it's about time Numb3rs got some more love. Thankfully, it's ready and waiting to be streamed on Prime. - Jake Hodges
