About Anja Djuricic
Anja Djuricic was born in Belgrade, Serbia, in 1992. Her first interest in film started very early, as she learned to speak English by watching Disney animated movies (and many, many reruns). Anja soon became inspired to learn more foreign languages to understand more movies, so she entered the Japanese language and literature Bachelor Studies at the University of Belgrade.
Anja is also one of the founders of the DJ duo Vazda Garant, specializing in underground electronic music influenced by various electronic genres.
Anja loves to do puzzles in her spare time, pet cats wherever she meets them, and play The Sims. Anja's Letterboxd four includes Memories of Murder, Parasite, Nope, and The Road to El Dorado.
Industry Experience
I taught English as a second language for five years while also learning about various global cultures. My students were typically adults from all over Europe, South Korea, China, Japan, and even Brazil.
After that, I got into marketing and SEO, where I started off as a content writer and moved my way up to an SEO specialist. Despite all this industry experience, my ideal job is writing (especially about cinema and TV).
I am also one half of the DJ duo Vazda Garant.
Author Details
My name is Anja Djuricic (prononunced Anya Du-ree-chich), and I am from Belgrade, Serbia. My biggest passion has always been writing, and I started inventing and telling stories very early in life. It's a passion I set aside for a while, but I realized recently that it never really left me.
Everything I did led me to realize that writing is what I'm most passionate about. If that becomes noticeable in any way, I will be grateful. The best thing that could happen is having my inner child filled with joy that it gets to do what it always wanted. I appreciate any and all consideration, especially if it resonates.
Favorite Media
I love writing about movies the most, it's my favorite medium. I am really interested in Asian cinema, with a special love for Akira Kurosawa and Bong Joon-ho.
Some of my favorite directors include Edgar Wright, Mike Flanagan, and Martin Scorsese, so if there's anything I could write about them, I'd jump at the chance.
I like TV series, too, especially series like Atlanta—offbeat and dark, but also funny and deeply analytical. I believe Atlanta is one of the best series ever made, for sure.
